We finished our second training yesterday and things seem to be moving along well. Everyone is getting to know each other and everyone had their stack of letters.
We had special visitors, Mluleki and Lulama Nkoloti who are our ministry leaders for Bridges Of Hope in South Africa. They are the first people that Bridges started the partnership with in 2001. Mluleki started St. Paul's church in Philipi and Lulama oversees the CHE program in all the townships Bridges Of Hope works with.
They told us a lot about the ministry. I was personally excited to hear about the fact that Philipi looked exactly the same as sweet home when Bridges Of Hope began working there. When you compare the two, there has a been a lot of progress in Philipi and after only a few years we are starting to see many positive changes in Sweet Home.
We also watched the movie Dear Francis which follows a group of teens from Texas working in Swasiland in 2004. It mirrors the issues we face in Sweet Home and Cape Flats and will break your heart. We show this to our teams to break their hearts here before we leave in hopes that they are more prepared and more functional when they arrive.
