Monday Happy Day

Hey everyone. This is Ryan writing the blog tonight. Today was an overall great and happy day. We, as a team, had a ton of fun together and with the kids. It was our last day of classes with the academy students and our comfort levels have skyrocketed. There was some trouble with the 8th grade boys, but that’s to be expected no matter what country you’re in. We have made some great connections with the students and I am having more fun with this age group than I expected.

What I took away from today is how proud I am of the 12th grade boys. They’ve opened up to us and what they have to share has blown me away, in a good way. They are grounded in Christ and I have great hope for them in the future. Although the troubles they have to face in the townships and at their homes is so foreign to us and so unbelievable, I can still see God preparing them and using them.

I am really looking forward to Wednesday when we will get to go back into Sweethome and see the OVC kids. My heart is still with all of them.

One more huge high for today…one 9th grade girl (that we call ‘little Erin’ because she looks just like Erin) accepted Christ into her life. The entire trip is worth it just for that. She is such a sweet girl and we are all so happy to accept her into our family through Christ.

  1. Of course we will pray for God's will to be done and the path laid out before you. What a blessing it has been for all of you. So happy to know today was a good day!

1 Peter 4;19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.

  2. I don't know why, but after reading this entry a quote I once read by C.S. Lewis came to mind:
“When I lay these questions before God I get no answer. But a rather special sort of 'No answer.' It is not the locked door. It is more like a silent, certainly not uncompassionate, gaze. As though He shook His head not in refusal but waiving the question. Like, 'Peace, child; you don't understand.”

HE is in control! God is so good...even when we don't see it or understand it, God is so good!

Praying that each of you has the peace that passes all understanding as you are confronted with so many different situations. I'm also praying for your health (physical, mental, and spiritual) as you press on in to what is still in store.
    love & prayers,
    :) keira

  3. The joy that comes when working with kids is sometimes unexplainable. They have raw emotion and such honesty. It sounds like these kids are ready to hear the word of God and accept him into their lives...Halleluhuia! Thank you entire team for your dedication to this mission and mostly for loving on these children!
I can't wait to love on my daughter Kaila...miss you honey!
